# How to Get Portal Pods in Pokemon Pokopia

**Portal Pods**, introduced in version 2.0.0 of **Pokemon Pokopia for Switch
                2**, provide a shared storage space with room for **140 item stacks**. Every
            Portal Pod placed in your world opens the same inventory, so materials deposited at one base can be
            collected from another without a return trip.

        ## All ways to obtain Portal Pods

            - **Collect two in Bubbly Basin:** the quickest option, but it requires the Expansion
                Pass.

            - **Copy one with the 3D Printer:** photograph a Portal Pod, then print duplicates in a
                rebuilt Pokémon Center.

            - **Unlock its crafting recipe:** raise the Environment Level in Palette Town. This
                route does not require the Expansion Pass.

        ## Where to find the two free Portal Pods in Bubbly Basin

        Enter **Bubbly Basin** and move beyond the opening section where **Popplio**
            first acts as your guide. Use **Surf** across the surface instead of following the longer
            underwater route. Pass the ornate structure that rises above the water and continue to the island
            immediately behind it.

            - Dive beside the island and enter the submerged building.

            - Inside, use **Rock Smash** to reach and pick up the first Portal Pod.

            - Go around to the rear of the building and check the foot of the stairs.

            - Open the Poké Ball there to collect a second Portal Pod.

            Surf is the faster way to cover most of the distance. Save Dive for the final approach to the
                underwater entrance.

        ## How to make more copies with the 3D Printer

        Once you own a Portal Pod, open the camera in Object Mode and take its picture. A **3D Printer in
                a rebuilt Pokémon Center** can then reproduce it whenever you have the required materials.
            You can also photograph a Portal Pod on a friend's island or on a Cloud Island; the game only needs
            the object registered in your photo catalogue.

        This method is available as soon as the Pokémon Center and its printer are operational. If you have not
            rebuilt one yet, collect the Bubbly Basin pair or keep progressing toward the crafting recipe.

        ## How to unlock the Portal Pod crafting recipe

        The recipe is tied to the **Environment Level in Palette Town**. Keep developing the area
            with buildings, habitats, and decorations, and claim the Environment Level rewards after installing
            version 2.0.0. The Portal Pod recipe is awarded once the required progression threshold is reached;
            it is not available as soon as Palette Town opens.

        Crafting is the better long-term choice when you plan to place many Portal Pods because it avoids the
            repeated material cost of the 3D Printer. Unlike the two free pods in Bubbly Basin, this unlock path is
            part of the free update and works without the Expansion Pass.

        ## Why Portal Pods are worth using

        Place one near each major base, construction project, or resource route. Because all Portal Pods share
            the same 140-stack inventory, you can gather in one region and start building in another without first
            unloading at your main storage. Combining them with fast travel greatly reduces the backtracking in
            longer building sessions.
