# Trigger photo opportunities and use tripod and security cameras

> Prepare a scene, wait for the photo prompt and choose the camera mode that suits the shot.

A pretty photograph is not automatically a registered special photo opportunity. The scene must trigger its opportunity prompt. Prepare the Pokémon and interaction first, then take the picture while that action is available rather than repeatedly photographing an idle resident.

        ## Prepare and capture the scene

            - Choose a specific interaction to try, such as Pidgey near a Pinwheel or Meowth near a Knitting kit. Bring the Pokémon to the object and dismiss it from following so it can use the scene.

            - Stay close enough to notice the photo-opportunity message and wait for the action. The setup can be correct without triggering immediately.

            - Press minus to open the camera, frame the participating Pokémon and take the photo while the prompt is active. Check the result before dismantling the setup.

        ## Put Ditto in the frame with a tripod

        Buy the Tripod option from the shop to unlock tripod mode. In photo mode, use X to switch to it, set the viewpoint and move Ditto into position. Frames and poses can improve the picture, but do not replace a special scene's conditions.

        ## Watch a habitat from a placed camera

        Place a Security camera, then open Camera from the plus-button menu to view its feed or switch between installed cameras in the same region. This is useful for checking a distant scene. The same menu opens the album; directly opening photo mode with minus does not open the album.
