The **Pokemon Pokopia Expansion Pass for Switch 2** costs **$34.99** and
            delivers three waves of paid content. The first expands the game with a complete underwater area,
            while the later releases focus on Pokémon accessories and another location to restore.

        ## Price and purchase options

        The Expansion Pass is sold separately from the base game through Nintendo eShop. Existing players pay
            **$34.99** for the pass. New players can instead purchase a bundle containing Pokemon
            Pokopia and the Expansion Pass for **$104.99**.

        Because the base game is priced at $70, the bundle costs the same as buying both products separately.
            It is a convenient single purchase, but it does not include a discount.

        ## What each wave adds

        ### Wave 1: Bubbly Basin

        Available from **August 5, 2026**, the first wave takes you underwater to rebuild the
            remains of **Bubbly Basin**, a sunken area based on Cerulean City. It introduces four
            Pokémon: **Lumineon, Totodile, Manaphy, and Popplio**. This is currently the most detailed
            and substantial part of the pass, especially for players who have already completed the restoration
            projects in the base game.

        A free update launched alongside Wave 1. Players without the Expansion Pass therefore still receive
            new content, although Bubbly Basin itself belongs to the paid pass.

        ### Wave 2: More Pokémon customization

        The second wave is due later in **2026**. Its confirmed focus is cosmetic customization,
            with new accessories that Pokémon can wear. No additional explorable area has been announced for this
            wave, but the accessories offer more ways to personalize your residents and settlements.

        ### Wave 3: Another location

        The final wave is planned for **2027** and will add a new location to explore and rebuild.
            Nintendo has not yet detailed its Pokémon, objectives, or exact release date, so this part of the pass
            remains the biggest unknown.

        ## Should you buy the Expansion Pass now?

        Buying now makes the most sense if you want to play Bubbly Basin and expect to enjoy all three waves.
            One purchase unlocks Wave 1 immediately and grants Waves 2 and 3 when they arrive.

        If accessories are not important to you and you mainly want the unannounced 2027 location, waiting for
            more information is the safer choice. The three waves are not currently sold individually: you must
            purchase the complete Expansion Pass to access any of its paid content.
