# Pumpkin Candy: how to land scares and collect it efficiently

A successful scare gives **1–3 Pumpkin Candy**. The key is making a Pokémon notice your disguise before you turn back. Aim for 20 candies if you want one of every Halloween reward; you need fewer if you are only building a habitat.

## Prepare a short route

Learn **Camouflage** from Zorua in Bleak Beach and speak to Pumpkaboo at a rebuilt Pokémon Center during the event. The collection window is October 17, 2026 at 05:00 to November 1 at 04:59, local console time.

Start in a neighborhood with several residents. Check their Pokédex likes and pick furniture that matches them. Copying furniture from a resident's own habitat is a useful first attempt. Plants and building blocks do not trigger the reaction, even if they match a Pokémon's interests.

## Wait for the cue, then reveal Ditto

- Use Camouflage facing the furniture you want to copy.

- Move into the target's line of sight while disguised.

- Wait for a speech bubble that **names the object**. Being nearby on its own is not enough.

- Press **B** to cancel the disguise while the reaction is active and collect the candy.

## If the Pokémon ignores you

- **It is chatting:** wait for its conversation to finish or approach another resident.

- **No object reaction:** try different furniture that matches its likes and approach from the front.

- **You already scared it:** continue your route. Published observations give different waiting times, so there is no reliable fixed timer to plan around.

Rotate between residents instead of repeatedly trying the same target. Rewards vary between one and three candies; plan purchases around your actual total.
