The chef's missing book belongs to a follow-up request, separate from rescuing her and learning to cook. Progress through rebuilding the huge building in Sparkling Skylands, then return to Chef Dente in Rocky Ridges and check her next request.
Prepare the kitchen before searching for the book
- Accept the chef's request for a home and assemble Chef's kitchen: Cooking stove, Modern sink, Plain table, Stylish Cooking Pot, Cutting board and Plated food. Keep the arrangement together until it registers.
- Talk to Chef Dente after finishing the kitchen and complete that request's dialogue. Then accept the follow-up about the book her former partner used.
- Search the ground in front of Rocky Ridges' Pokémon Center. Inspect the book there to record the chef's diary, then return and finish the request conversation.
If the book is missing
Check that you accepted the book request rather than stopping after the kitchen was recognized. The diary is tied to that sequence; searching before the relevant request is active can leave you looking for an object that has not appeared yet.
Treat the two requests as separate checkpoints
A completed kitchen does not automatically complete the book search. Report the first task, listen to the follow-up and inspect the diary before returning. If the chef still offers no follow-up, verify your story progress and local Center restoration before repeatedly dismantling a kitchen that already works.
