Squishy Clay and Bricks: Where to Find Clay and How to Bake It

Every source of Squishy clay, the Litter Pokémon that bring it to you, how Burn Pokémon turn it into bricks and what both materials are used for.

Squishy Clay and Bricks: Where to Find Clay and How to Bake It walkthrough

Squishy clay is one of the first “slow” materials in Pokémon Pokopia. On its own it is used for plates, mugs, tea sets and vases, but its real value is that it is the only way to make bricks, which you need for the Bleak Beach Pokémon Center (30 of them), brick roofs, steps and walls. Here is where to get clay in bulk and how to turn it into bricks.

Where to find Squishy clay

SourceDetails
Withered WastelandsClay blocks inside the cave near where Onix was trapped. They are slightly lighter and browner than normal rock
Bleak BeachThe richest area: clay blocks are scattered all along the shoreline
Dream Island (Pikachu Doll)Plenty of clay blocks, and they refill every visit
Litter PokémonPaldean Wooper, Clodsire and Trapinch bring you clay on their own

To break clay blocks you need Rock Smash (or Rollout once you have it). Eating a hamburger steak powers up Rock Smash so you break more blocks per hit.

Let your Pokémon farm it for you

Pokémon with the Litter specialty bring you an item every so often without you doing anything. For clay, the ones to recruit are Paldean Wooper, Clodsire and Trapinch. The higher their Comfort Level, the more items they bring, so give them a nice house close to a storage box and check it every day.

How to make bricks

  1. Recruit a Pokémon with the Burn specialty, such as Charmander or Torchic.
  2. Talk to it with Squishy clay in your Bag and choose to hand it over.
  3. It bakes the clay into Bricks. You can give it a whole stack at once.

Burn Pokémon can also set fire to flammable objects, so keep them away from your wooden decorations.

What bricks and clay are used for

  • Bricks: the Bleak Beach Pokémon Center, brick steps, brick walls, every brick roof piece, planters and the stone fireplace.
  • Clay: plates, mugs, tea sets, table settings, small vases and some flower decorations.

Tip: the Bleak Beach Pokémon Center alone needs 30 bricks. Set up a Paldean Wooper or Trapinch habitat as soon as you can and let them work while you play the story, so the bricks are ready when the area reaches level 3.
