Build an elevator and fix platforms that will not connect

Align the landings and ladder column before looking for an electricity problem.

Build an elevator and fix platforms that will not connect walkthrough

An elevator needs at least two Elevator platforms connected vertically by ladders. It does not require electricity. Plan an unobstructed shaft before furnishing the building, since a misplaced floor or wall can prevent the landings from connecting.

Build an elevator and fix platforms that will not connect

Unlock the platforms and assemble the shaft

  1. In Sparkling Skylands, follow Poliwrath's requests about sand and the area above the ladder. Continue the elevator repair sequence, attract Alakazam with its requested habitat and speak to it for the recipe.
  2. Craft each landing with eight Glass, eight Concrete and two Tinkagears. A new two-stop elevator needs two landings, so reserve materials for both and the ladders between them.
  3. Place the landings directly above one another facing the same direction. Connect their backs with a continuous ladder column and keep the 3-by-3 shaft clear.

Test before adding more floors

Call the elevator from the landing, wait for it to arrive, board with A and use the directional buttons to travel up or down. Add further landings only after the first connection works. Leave enough room for access at each floor.

If it refuses to connect

Check alignment, orientation, ladder continuity and objects intruding into the shaft. Allow at least three ladder blocks between connection points. If placement reports another item in the way, inspect floors and decorative pillars as well as loose furniture. Installing a generator will not fix a broken physical connection.
