In Withered Wastelands, Slowpoke needs a more humid environment before its yawn can advance the story. The task is about restoring the area, rather than merely waiting for a random rainy day.

Restore the nearby water
- Use Water Gun on dry ground, withered plants and dried grass around the settlement.
- Look for rocks with water bubbling or dripping around them near the Pokémon Center ruins. Break the blocking rocks with Rock Smash to release the spring.
- Open the route of the spring northwest of the center so the existing fountain receives water. A fountain standing on dry ground does not provide the intended effect.
Finish the habitat requests
Listen to Bulbasaur and Squirtle and complete the tasks they propose. For the flower area, arrange eight patches of flowers; a growing specialist can help newly planted seeds mature. If you already made the required habitat, bring the requesting Pokémon to it so the task can be acknowledged.
For the rain ritual, use two weather decorations in their rain forms and a plate with food, then bring a watering specialist. Do not assume that the ritual's rain replaces every other step of the story request.
When progress seems stuck
Return to Slowpoke and the professor after improving the area, and finish the relevant conversations. If the objective is still incomplete, inspect the fountain's water supply and any unfinished habitat task. Repeatedly watering the same tiny patch is less useful than restoring a blocked spring or getting an inactive fountain working.
