Windup Inkay is an item hidden in Bubbly Basin's depths, not the Pokémon itself. Recovering the toy gives you a key component for Muddy playtime. Bring Dive, Rock Smash and a light so the narrow passages remain visible as you explore.
Follow the passage below the roof
- Find the large ruined building with the pink-purple roof near the deep trench. Descend beside its outer edge toward the lower brick-lined passage, using the pink coral outside as a landmark.
- Enter the narrow brick corridor and follow it to the rocky end section. Break the brown natural-rock barrier with Rock Smash to reveal the room with wall-mounted machinery.
- Pick up Windup Inkay from the machinery room. Check the return route before heading farther into the trench; this object is the toy needed for the habitat, not a Pokémon encounter.
Build Muddy playtime with actual muddy water
Place one Windup Inkay, one Towel rack and one Floating logs object beside at least two spaces of muddy water. Ordinary clear water does not meet that condition. Moomoo Milk Coffee from a powered vending machine provides a portable muddy-water source when you can store and release liquids.
Wait for the Pokémon after recognition
Check that the habitat registers and leave it available for a visitor. It can attract Inkay, Marshtomp and Barboach, so the first arrival need not be Inkay. Keep the toy and water in place while waiting; picking up the mechanical Inkay does not befriend the real one.
