How to grow moss, climbing vines and duckweed

Use a salad to strengthen Leafage and target the right surface for each plant.

How to grow moss, climbing vines and duckweed walkthrough

Some habitats require plants you cannot grow by placing seeds. After unlocking cooking, a salad strengthens Leafage so that it can create vegetation on stone, walls and water as well as ordinary grass.

How to grow moss, climbing vines and duckweed

Activate the correct meal effect

  1. Place a cutting board and prepare a salad. The first simple salad can be made with two leaves.
  2. Eat the salad yourself. Giving it to another Pokémon does not strengthen your move.
  3. Select Leafage and check that its temporary food effect is active before starting the habitat.

Choose the surface before using the move

For moss, aim at a suitable stone floor or rock surface. For climbing vines, face a suitable vertical wall. For duckweed, aim at the water surface. The same powered move gives different results according to the surface you target; using it on nearby ordinary soil will simply make grass.

Create the required patches inside the habitat area and check the game's recognition message. For example, moss beside hot-spring water is used for Mossy hot spring. Decorative green blocks are not a substitute for actual moss when the requirement specifically asks for the plant.

If the expected plant does not appear

Check the food effect, your aim and the surface. A salad's yellow energy can run out even though the move itself remains available. Eat another salad to restore that effect, then test on one clear patch before covering a large area. A meal for a different ability does not replace the salad needed for Leafage.
