Pokémon shops exchange goods for other goods. You need a proper sales counter and a Pokémon with the trading specialty; speaking to any resident while it walks around does not automatically open a shop.

Prepare a usable counter
- Place tables with room for displayed stock and put a cash register on the counter.
- Connect the register to electricity and leave access for the Pokémon. Alternatively, use the counter inside a restored Pokémon Center when it is available for ordinary trading.
- Let a Pokémon with the trading specialty use the counter. You can end an active shop through dialogue, but cannot force a resident to start selling instantly.
Offer items that the trader likes
Choose the displayed item you want and inspect its required value. Offer items from your bag until your side meets that value. You can combine up to four different item types, using multiple units of each, so adjust the final quantities instead of handing over an unnecessarily expensive object.
Items matching the trader's favourite categories are worth 50% more. The game marks these boosted values in orange. Check the Pokémon's preferences first and compare the displayed totals; a favourite crafted item may replace a much larger pile of raw materials.
If the shop is empty
Check the register's power, the table space and whether a suitable trader is available. A seasonal event can occupy the Pokémon Center counter. Use an independent powered counter when you need a separate ordinary trading space, and keep the materials required for your next construction before offering surplus goods.
