How to Get Gold Teeth and Build Feraligatr’s Habitat

Where Gold Teeth come from, four ways to improve your appraisal odds, how to print them instead, and how to build the Biteable punching bag for Feraligatr.

How to Get Gold Teeth and Build Feraligatr’s Habitat walkthrough

Gold Teeth are one of the most wanted items in Pokémon Pokopia since the Bubbly Basin expansion arrived, because they are the key piece of the Biteable punching bag, the habitat that attracts Feraligatr. They cannot be bought or crafted: you have to dig them up as a Lost Relic and get lucky at the appraisal. Here is how to improve your chances and a shortcut that skips the luck entirely.

Where Gold Teeth come from

Gold Teeth are a possible result when Professor Tangrowth appraises a large Lost Relic. Large relics are hidden in the glowing blocks you break with Rock Smash. There is no fixed spot and no guaranteed drop: each appraisal picks one item from a long list of large relics.

How to improve your chances

  1. Farm Bubbly Basin. The DLC area is packed with glowing yellow blocks, both on the seabed and on raised rocks, so check every height.
  2. Feed Mosslax something sweet first. A strong sweet dish adds up to 9 extra ancient artifacts per area for the day.
  3. Bring a Search Pokémon and the Dowsing Machine so you do not miss buried blocks.
  4. Appraise in batches of 10. Since update 2.0.0 Tangrowth identifies ten relics in one conversation, which makes the “keep trying” part much faster.

The shortcut: print them

Once you can photograph a pair of Gold Teeth, you never need to find them again. Take a reference photo (camera, then Y for Reference mode) and the 3D Printer at any Pokémon Center makes a copy for 5 Rare Pokémetal. If a friend already has some, visit their town or Cloud Island, photograph them and print your own at home.

Building the Biteable punching bag

ItemWhere to get it
Gold TeethLarge Lost Relic appraisal or 3D Printer
Punching bagFound in Withered Wastelands and Sparkling Skylands, or crafted from its recipe
SandpileFound in Bubbly Basin (pick it up whole with Magnet Rise) or crafted; requires the Expansion Pass
Table (any)Any table you have

Place the four items close together and wait: Feraligatr shows up like any other habitat Pokémon. It has the Chop and Crush specialties, so it is a useful worker too.

The rest of the Totodile family

  • Totodile: Basin tall grass, Canoe dock or Bubbly bathtub.
  • Croconaw: Canoe dock or Chimney rocks dig site.
  • Feraligatr: Biteable punching bag, and it can also turn up in Basin tall grass.

Tip: keep every duplicate large relic you get while hunting. They are useful for the Professor’s treasure trove habitat (four large relics and a bed) and as rare furniture for your houses.
