How to Raise Your Environment Level Fast

What counts toward each town's Environment Level, the rewards from level 2 to 10, the six fastest ways to level up and why the level can drop.

How to Raise Your Environment Level Fast walkthrough

The Environment Level is the score that tracks how far you have rebuilt each area of Pokémon Pokopia. Every town has its own level, from 1 to 10, and it gates almost everything: shop stock, story requests, multiplayer and even the Pokémon Center kit. This guide explains what feeds the level, what each milestone gives you and the quickest ways to push it up.

How the Environment Level is calculated

The level is basically the combined happiness of everyone living in the area. Three things count:

  • The Comfort Level of each resident. A Pokémon without a habitat or home counts as zero, so homeless Pokémon do not help at all.
  • Requests you complete, especially the big ones such as rebuilding the Pokémon Center.
  • Buildings and kits you place. They add to the score even before anyone moves in.

Legendary and Mythical Pokémon weigh more than regular ones: keeping one happy in an area raises its level noticeably faster. You can check the current level of every town on the PC outside each Pokémon Center.

What each level unlocks

LevelWhat you get
Every levelNew challenges in the PC and new items and recipes in that area’s shop
2 (Withered Wastelands)Link Play, so you can visit friends and use Cloud Islands

4 (Withered Wastelands)PP Up in the shop
5A special gift of items
6 and 7Pokémetal and Rare Pokémetal become available in the shop
10A gift of exclusive recipes and the last shop items, including remodel kits

Palette Town’s level also unlocks the Portal Pod recipe added in update 2.0.0, and in Bubbly Basin level 2 and 3 open the Sharpedo submarine kit and the Ocean Temple request.

The fastest ways to level up

  1. House everyone. Pokémon living in a real building gain Comfort faster than in an open habitat. A building only needs four walls and a door, and the walls can be a single block high, so cheap “boxes” work fine early on.
  2. Ask about Comfort every day. Talk to each Pokémon, ask how comfortable it is and give it what it mentions: a type of furniture, food with a certain flavor or a change of brightness or humidity.
  3. Restore the land. Turning dry dirt into grass with Water Gun and Leafage, planting flowers and adding water makes the area nicer for everybody at once.
  4. Fill the area with habitats early. More residents means more Comfort to add up. Natural habitats made of grass, trees or flowers cost almost nothing.
  5. Finish requests and play mini-games. Both raise friendship, which in turn speeds up Comfort.
  6. Use buffs. A no-flavor offering to Mosslax speeds up friendship for the day, and a Pokémon with the Scrub specialty following you cleans the Pokémon you meet, boosting their Comfort.

Can the level go down?

Yes. If you move Pokémon out of an area or destroy their homes, the total score drops and the area can lose a level. When that happens, the shop items you had not bought yet and the challenges of that level are locked again until you climb back. Move residents between towns carefully, especially Legendary Pokémon.

Tip: if a town is stuck, check its PC list for Pokémon marked as having no home. Giving those a habitat is usually the quickest jump you can get.
